I have things to tell you about from today.
Flea markety things.
Mostly odds.

2. Ruby recently came in to our room early one morning and started sniffing me, which I'm happy to report is not commonplace. The following conversation ensued:Flea markety things.
But before I get to that, and because I'm too lazy to put the pics on the computer, we shall cover a few odds and ends.
Mostly odds.
1. I asked Cory to take a picture of Ruby yesterday in her cute outfit (this is her favorite skirt, for obvious reasons) and my sunglasses. Not only did he take the photos for me, he took fantastically good ones and then "cross processed" them (whatever that means). I am pretty sure he did all of this just to spite me by drawing such a stark contrast between his work and my (cough cough) work. Alas, they are just too smashing not to share. Show-off.
Ruby: Mommy, you thmell different today.
Me: What do I smell like?
Ruby: You thmell like...Africa.
Me: How do you know what Africa smells like?
Ruby: Because it thmellth like brown people! And I'm a brown girl!
Me: Is it a good smell?
Ruby: It'th a very good thmell!
Sidenote: Ruby's birth father was born and raised in Africa, though we have never met him and actually know very little about him. She is very loosely aware that she has some connection to Africa, wherever that is.
I have really no idea what the whole conversation meant, but I loved it, all the same. I'm telling you, people, these kids inherently just know stuff. It's spooky-cool.
4. And homeboy's hairy. Let's just put that out there.
5. Every single day, Silas latches on to one or two random objects. He carries them around all day long. Today, it was Ruby's hot pink Barbie checkbook.
6. Friday, it was a microscopic Lego suitcase.
I can't find my head half the time, but he manages to go a full 30 hours without losing this.
7. Self-explanatory.
8. I think you should make this for dinner.
It garnered sweeping raves.
9. I'm still laughing over my phantom arm muscles.
10. I rue the end of this 4-star weekend.
11. But I'll get over it.

Cutest lips!
ReplyDeleteCutest skirt!
Cutest genius husband that can shoot and edit!
Cutest arm muscles ; )
Wishing you a 5 star week!
Love, Love, Love, Becky
I'm sad to see our weekend draw to a close too, but I am far too lazy to post about it tonight. lol Let's just say it was just what we exhausted Walshies needed!
ReplyDeletePhone date? When are you free? :)
My Eric is very proud of his "mustache" that he's had since the day he was born. He's been known to tell perfect strangers about it, and I've caught him checking on it my rubbing it lightly with his finger from time to time... He's the furriest blond kid I've ever met, and it's the kind of blond that turns white in the summer against his tan skin. I love it. Now Nathalie? She doesn't love her's quite so much, lol!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh. Is number seven a recent picture? I was hoping those days were behind you.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the cross pross. Give C-man a high five straight from me.
Speaking of photography stuff....did I ever tell you that when I sent my lens in to have the focus checked they made the "smudge" disappear?
They did. Thought you'd want to know even though you and yours had absolutely nothing to do with the smudge showing up in the first place.
This is an inappropriately long and off subject comment.
Over and out.
delightful ruby photos!! wow! LOVE her and that she smelled africa on you. swelled heart over here.
ReplyDeletebless silas and his grounded heart. it's often the smallest things that act as a compass for the day, you know?

Ruby girl is such a fashion plate. So stinkin' adorable! And oh so smart. I'm sure Africa smells splendidly. And YES, kids do just KNOW things. Spooky cool indeed.
ReplyDeleteSilas and his teeny briefcase make me smile. And so does that plate. You and your recipes! Go girlfriend. I've been in a rut lately with dinners and may need to try some Greek!
That Ruby is one "Cool" girl! Well...all your kids are for that matter.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely precious, Shannan! I loved every bit! Especially this line: "I can't find my head half the time, but he manages to go a full 30 hours without losing this." {love}
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post...those kiddos just make my heart melt! And make me wish for some not-blazingly white children of my own (though my own little gal picked up her Daddy's Thai skin, so for that I'm grateful.)
ReplyDeleteI bet Siley will be the only boy goin' to the 'garten with a mustache...the other boys will be so beyond jealous. Lucky little guy! ;)
Ruby's outfit rocks! You make the healthiest meals...have you always cooked this way or did you have to learn to eat healthy? Just curious, because I am trying to learn, but I don't find it easy.
ReplyDelete-FringeGirl

LOVE the conversation with Ruby :) I love the way I feel when I read your posts. There's so much joy and contentment :)
ReplyDeletelook at you bringing up your fab arm muscles again ;-) Just "pinned" that recipe. Thank you. Do you Pinterest?
ReplyDeleteI love my pumpkins! Even the hairy one. And Rub, she never ceases to amaze me with her insight. I can tell Cal was doing some serious work in the drive way....He is his Pappaw alright. Counting the days till I see all of you. I will get the pancakes and sausage ready, and warm up Cor's reading chair.(Dad just got some new wood working magazines). Oh, and maybe we will escape together for some really good Mexican food!
ReplyDeletei've been following you for quite some time now...and rarely do i comment...why you ask...well, who the heck knows. :) but...i just have to say your "realness" makes me smile...it just does...just thought i'd throw that out there. :) also...ruby's skirt is awesome...i can see why its her fave. and...your meal looks super yum. i just might have to try my hand at making it.
ReplyDeleteyay for phantom arm muscles :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely some great pictures, as always, I'm glad you shared!
Hey, miss lady - very cool post. I LOVE your odds and ends. your family is the sweetest.
ReplyDeleteMine and Corbin's conversation as he saw the pictures of Ruby:
ReplyDeleteC: I never see Ruby anymore.
me: Do you miss her?
C: Well, she never wants to play with me.
me: Why do you think that is?
C: Because she thinks I don't be nice......But she doesn't know that because she never lets me play with her........It's not like I'm gonna marry her.
Jack does that with attaching to random objects daily and they are always (in my mind) the silliest items.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics of Ruby!
Fave moments here:
ReplyDeletePhoto of Calvin being self explanatory. So cute.
Ruby: what a gorgeous little girl she's turning into! And that outfit has the colors of a nice dreamsicle in fabric form!
Silas: So cute. He does have a cute lil mustache going on there. I'm giggling. I wonder if he'll have a 5 o' clock shadow at noonish as a man? And carrying those "tinies" around? it's amazing what little kids don't lose. I wouldn't be able to hold onto any of those tinies for longer than 5 minutes without losing any one of them!
I enjoyed reading about the competitive photo taking!
And Ruby saying you smell like Africa: Heart melting. I've always told my nephew he smells like cookies and goodness. He does! He's always liked it, but has become almost bored by it in the past year.."yeah..I know..and goodness too." as if someone complimenting him in such a way is commonplace or somethin!
Wishing you cookies, goodness and all fine smells~
xo~
