I found this picture in the archives today and it made me think of a few things.
1) I miss La Fiesta.
2) If ever there was an Amiga of La Fiesta, it would be me.
3) Cory did not enjoy my outfit that day.
I can count the times that Cory disliked what I wore on one hand. He's easy to please. His hard-lined opinions don't typically extend to fashion. But I clearly remember him giving me a look on this day. His look said, "Say whaaaaat?" Or something like that.
What you might not be able to see is that my shorts were navy and white pinstripes.
Seersucker.
Because I'm a sucker for seersucker.
(Don't even get me started on springtime in DC. Seersucker suits with polka-dotted bow ties! Have mercy.)
I have this....this....problem. I really enjoy throwing oddball things together on the off-chance that I might be on to something. You should try it.
She sure has.

i love the outfits! i do the same thing with my clothes and my kids' clothes! so fun!
ReplyDelete...and, side note, my husband just told me (in sweet, kind words) yesterday that my light pink skirt is not cute and makes me look pale :)

ReplyDeleteI love seeing other people's kids in their clashy Punky Brewster-esque clothes but when my own kids try to pull it off I cringe. I abhor my own double standard! Anywho...when I was in elementary school we didn't have much money and there was another little girl in my class who had EVERYTHING she wanted and the cutest outfits ever (in my first grade mind.) In a fit of jealousy I remember telling her that her clothes clashed right before we went on stage for the BIG Christmas show. We have a photo of her bawling...and me 5 steps away grinning like a cheshire cat because I "won." And yes, I got in big trouble. I was a "mean girl." Tsk tsk.

Well, I totally agree with your fashion sense! If you like, own it and then WEAR it! Especially seersucker, if I could get married to Eric again, he would be wearing a seersucker suit and I would be in a sundress, both obviously being purchased from your fav and mine, JCREW! FYI, they totally dress the kiddos like that in the catalog and Ruby's got it goin' on :-)

ReplyDeleteThose socks...I dreamed of being allowed to wear striped socks like that as a little girl with any and all outfits! Sadly, my mom always "got in the way" of that dream! Please show her Dorrie from the Dorrie the Witch books by Patricia Coombs. They dress alike. I wanted to BE Dorrie.
Brad wore a seersucker button down to our lunch date the other day. Sigh. 'Twas lovely.

ReplyDeleteAlso, I kinda like your outfit. The shorts and that belt are 'swoony' if I may say. My husband dosn't really like about 1/2 the outfits I put together but he knows they make me happy and just says "that's very you". So diplomatic. There's a blog I recently found called The Man Repeller and it's based on the idea that women dress to be 'fashionable' not necessarily to be attractive and that most men don't 'get' fashion. It's quite funny.
