Especially when I'm with my in-laws.
Or as I like to call them, my out-laws, because they mean renegade business when it comes to games. They ain't even playin'.
(Except for they totally are playing. Five times a day, if possible.)
There was that brief period between the ages of five and nine when I went gangbusters for Life and Monopoly, but I confess, it was really only ever about the game pieces. My whole world hinged on having multiple sets of pink and blue tiny plastic peg twins and landing a high-paying job. And then there was the metal Scottie Dog. And the shoe. Who can resist?
In the end, I shucked the gaming impulse like a bad husk.
Confession #2: I sometimes think I might be getting my game groove back. At least on holidays.
I still refuse all card games, but only because they are against my religion.
But I really have no patience for card games. They bore me to tears.

The truth is, games bring people together.
There's something about being pulled wary from the sidelines and thrust into a "Minute to Win it" challenge that brings unity.
For some, it might also bring harmony.
But not for me.
Because I kind of hate losing. I forget how competitive I am until I'm handed a strand of hard spaghetti. I will dominate that penne.
Lori? Harmony.

The gamewashing of all minors is already in full-swing.
We don't stand a chance against them.
I love that family! And I was hoping that was the Minute to Win It game because my daughter bought it for her little brother for Christmas. I know what we'll be doing Christmas day! Game on!!

Minute to Win it games are awesome! We actually had an inter-departmental competition with them at work. I came in 3rd place for being able to move an oreo cookie from my forehead to my mouth. ;)

you guys are crazy! Once when I was young, my dad made us race walnuts across the living room floor...with our tongues. so sanitary. We've backed off on the games because, well, peoples lives were in danger. maybe it's because we are scottish, but we try to kill people if we start to lose.

we played minute to win it games at my work party. i was in charge of the games. everyone has a great time. it was a lot of fun. i was going to do that dice game but it sounded so hard.

Wow...this looks like something our family would LOVE!! I'll have to google Minute to Win It games and see what happens...though I'll be taking Dana's advice and will not be googling "hard spaghetti games!"

i knew we were soul sisters. i too, despise card games. avoid them like the plague. and i loved getting twin girls. and dream phone was the best.

This makes me so very excited for my family week at the beach. Our theme this year is "Game On" and I am responsible for getting together the props for minute to win it! We are gamers at heart! I can't wait...especially b/c my sister, brother-in-law and 5 nephews are in from Africa! WHOOT!

ReplyDeleteI love the picture of all the cousins in pjs! My family loves games too, but we don't go the "Minute to Win It" route. We are board games, card games, dominoes, and the games we make up on our own involving paper, pen, and lots of clues and guessing. Looks like a fun Christmas!

i have to admit that i love all games and i become someone else or is it that i become my true self :( when i play games.....it's been said that i don't act like a christian when i'm playing games. :)) i do, i promise. they don't know what they're talking about. they're just sore losers. {heehee}
