A few weeks back I was offered the opportunity to spread the word about Noonday Collection. They wanted to send me a necklace. Well, I'm not a big necklace sort of girl. I wear the same silver chain and the same leather cuff almost every day. I can't be bothered to switch it all up, like I used to.
But I clicked their link, which lead me to this, the Dulce necklace, hand-crafted by artisans in Ecuador. It was so unexpected and so positively me. Of course I loved it.
Then I read their story, and I was hook, line and sinker. Here are two women creatively using their passions and talents to care for the orphans and the oppressed. They are helping to fund adoptions. They are providing an income for women living in extreme poverty, which in turn allows the women to continue to care for their children.
"Our passion at Noonday Collection is to connect you with the lives of artisans struggling for a better future while styling you along the way."
This is the sort of thing that makes me want shout into an old-school megaphone. I like being reminded that God values our creativity, that He invented beauty.
Yeah, there's always that thin line separating what we want and what we need. To me, it usually feels complicated and hazy, because on the one hand, I don't need 90% of the things that I have. But on the other hand, I'm not quite ready to commit to potato-sack frocks or turn Amish.
Companies like Noonday Collection seem like a pretty fantastic solution for the girl who might like a bit of candy about her neck.

(Two of my faves.)
I felt extra-fancy. I adore the pop of gold and the weight of the tagua seeds. (You heard me right, those beauties are hand-carved and polished tagua seeds. You know the ones.) It is perfection.
Right after Cory snapped this shot of Holly and I, I had him zoom in for a close-up of Dulce and her hexagonal wonderment. And because I knew I would want to know, I also had him capture the rest of the look.
And by "look", I mean:
Frazzled Gap jeans with wonky cuffs, $5 clearance Target sandals from last summer, a pink belt and my bag, which happens to be a TJ Maxx golden oldie. The shirt is TJ, too, from 3 years ago.
Oh, and sunglasses up on my head. And misbehaving hair.
So, you see I use the term "look" loosely.
Be honest, you're a little disappointed.
Perhaps I should have left it at this and called it a day.
Noonday Collection

i love it! so so cute!
ReplyDeleteNever disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI plan to be you when I grow up.
Tell me those shoes are a size 9 and you're sticking them in the mail tomorrow. Say it.
I love the work of their hands, and I love how it transforms.
xxoo
Apparently you can spot a size 9 from a mile away. Or 5 states away. Whatever.
DeleteLove those necklaces! ...especially the one with the beads/jewels/gems/whatever you call them hanging down off the chain.
ReplyDeletep.s. misbehaving hair is in, I've heard!(somewhere, not sure where)
actually, i quite like the look. [of course, this is coming from the girl who attended a commencement ceremony saturday in a relaxed jeans/sweater/loose bun motif and walked in behind three ladies in heels, sundresses, perfect coiffures (and trailing perfume no less), thinking to myself: hmmmn. i wonder if it shall ever occur to me to check the mirror *before* i leave the house?]
ReplyDeletelove the chunky necklace. it's like a bunch of sky and the sun. LOVE, i tell you.
Yes, that is precisely what it is. Sky + sun.
DeleteAs for "spiffing up", I just find that I care less and less. Is this what they mean when they say "she let herself go"? Oh well.
I love the necklace but I love how you always make me laugh even more! "Be honest, you're a little disappointed"….never! What a great shop…..look forward to checking it out.
ReplyDeleteDid my friend Hillary send you this necklace?? I told her she should. Call me bossy. Anyways it's totes cute! Love Noonday! My friend (Hillary) gave me Noonday earrings that I drool over.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your look is pin worthy. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteYou wear it well. I wouldn't have a clue what to pair it with. Adorable as always.
ReplyDeleteI think you are so beautiful : )
ReplyDeleteAlways.
What a great company. Thank you for sharing.
Love every bit of your outfit.....it appears as though once I had my son, my ability to put on an entire outfit fled the scene upon his birth. Oftentimes, I will just put on a piece of jewelry along with my yoga pants in an effort to justify the fact that I 'tried'.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore the necklace.
well, you are stunning, and this necklace blows my mind, and the vision behind it all? perfect.
ReplyDeletethe necklaces are stunning. thanks fro introducing us to new goods with a good cause.
ReplyDeleteI feel a tinge of guilt when I shop for myself lately. So much easier when I know it is used for good. Love this company. Also love www.147millionorphans.com. great things they are both doing!
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't have picked a better model. You're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteyou are an awesome noonday model :)
ReplyDeletexo
You crack me up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to Noonday.
I'm not a bulky necklace wearer. And, I wear the same pair of earrings every. single. day. Little antiqued silver flowers handmade from Etsy.
But I *think* I could be a big necklace wearer.
We'll see.
so cute. i love it! super fun piece to add to any outfit. i think your "look" is adorbs :)
ReplyDeleteThe necklace is simply bee sting worthy as it reminds of honeycomb..... You, your faithful self....look adorable and the Noonday Collection and their mission is empowering!
ReplyDeleteLove it. I am off to look at their stuff. I don't usually do necklaces with the babies always man-handling them but I just may have to get one for when they aren't hanging on me. You look adorable. I love your stripes on you. me...not so much. Is that new wallpaper striped and perhaps blue or gingham and blue? I have some vintage yellow and orange kitchen-y patterned I would love to send to you...maybe you could line something with it. It lives in a tub here and that is just a shame.
ReplyDeletethis is perfect. even the wonky cuffs.
ReplyDeleteYou know how to rock those...seeds. I'm glad to know about this company. It's my style and I LOVE the concept. I'm glad you shared this.
You just look good in everything and anything. I love your relaxed style. The accessories you purchase make a difference in the lives of others and they complement your clothes and express your style so perfectly. Thank you for sharing. You are the perfect model in more ways than one.
ReplyDeleteSo darned cute...you pull everything off!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous necklace. I bought earrings and the daisy cuff bracelet...what a great story they have...
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love this necklace! And now, of course, want it! And to echo everyone else--your whole look is fantastic--go you :)
ReplyDeleteI love the necklace, the "look", & your commentary! I never accessorize, but you & Noonday here are definitely inspiring. Also, thank you for giving us tall girls a fabu idea for what to do with our shorty pants. Really. I cuffed my jeans this morning...
ReplyDeleteOur computer has been down and out (optical drive motor, not a virus or anything evil) but I've enjoyed catching up on all I missed!
I read about the noonday collection in the back of "7," and checked them out last week. I can't believe the things they do with those magazine beads! Also, please tell that Holly girl how gorgeous she is just one more time. Love her. Thank you for confirming again the value of art!
ReplyDeleteWell, aren't you cute, wonky cuffs and all. The necklace is a keeper. And that dangly one with all the different colored beads? So dreamy. Yay Noonday!
