Remember when I wrote that guest post saying you should pull design inspiration directly off the hangers in your closet?
I present to you....
My living room curtains.
After much angst and consternation and the throwing-up-of-hands, I happened upon this "tapestry", from Urban Outfitters. It is only fate that dropped me unwittingly onto the bedding section of the website.
Each "tapestry" (it's so not a tapestry...) cost $30 and will make two panels.
That means curtains for 3 windows for less than $100.
Pros: It is a large-scale repeating pattern, which is what I was looking for. I like the colors.
Cons: They are ten past crazy. And I have the orange chair to contend with (have I mentioned that I don't really like things to match?)
But I'm anxious to see them up against the white walls, all the same.
The lesson here is clear: When life gives you cheap lemons, slice them down the middle and slap 'em on a rod.

ten past crazy sounds legit. can't wait to see xoxo
ReplyDeleteWOW! And then some! Love 'em!
ReplyDeleteI love them! And that's a great price!
ReplyDeleteAlso...you look like a very pretty dreamsicle...minus any orange or sherbet tones I guess....
Finally...loved your last post too. It made me want to share with you my latest and most fave prayer to God (learned from Carolyn Myss on Oprah who spoke about how we often "petition" God and don't really pray correctly) which is basically "God. Please hover over me." I think she found that it was from Teresa of Avila. So I try it now and I love it.
You are lovely. Inside and Out.
Rock this Friday, Shiny~
Your Pal,
Tiny :-)
Love that prayer, T! Thanks for sharing. Oh man, I need him to Hover.
DeleteI love sheets and bedspreads for their yardage! Can't wait to see.
ReplyDeleteMy mom suggested white sheets to back them. Might as well stick to the theme. :)
DeleteI have washed home decor items from urban outfitters and have had them fade a decent amount in the laundry... So maybe don't wash them for awhile.., then def just on cold. Did the same thing with a map tapestry for curtains for my sons room... Worked out great! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteoh gosh I love that pattern and the colors! My sister has bought one or two of those tapestries at UO and done the same thing. Handy! I agree with mom about backing them with white.
ReplyDeletePreach on!
ReplyDeleteSOOOOO FUN and cheerful!!!
Great job!
I love it!!!! I was looking for curtains too and walked into World Market thinking I'd never find anything and found a shower curtain on the way to the curtain and I fell in love instantly! It had the exact shade of green to match my couch and had the exact other colors I wanted. $30 and it's going to recover pillows for my couch. : ) Congratulations on your new curtains!
ReplyDeleteSeriously. So cool! AND smart!
ReplyDeleteplease please tell me more about that necklace...love all your colors!
My mom has made or altered every curtain in my house. I'm blessed. So much cheaper to buy fabric, sheets, duvet covers, etc. for curtains than actual curtains.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely! So you! I like that UO now takes Paypal!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the reveal. I know they will look great and your room is going to look very happy.

Excellent reminder - you can do so much with sheets.
Ha! "Ten past crazy"--awesome phrase that I'm now stealing. And love the curtains ;)

ReplyDeletei, too, adore large-scale, crazy colorful pattern and using non-curtains for curtains! my bedroom curtains are thrifted granny sheets.
